Climbing

It has become painfully obvious how well Jacob can climb now. Stepping from mommies violin, to the tool table, to the boxes, all to look at the view. Whats that? you wana climb Rainier next????

More Summer Fun

A Visit From Hungary

In August, we had some of Ian's relatives visit from Hungary. We stayed with them when we were in Hungary and it was nice to see them again and introduce them to Jacob. Amid many sightseeing trips, we managed to get together with them (and the rest of the Hanzeli clan) at a BBQ at Nana and Papa's. Jacob was a big hit and he didn't seem to mind the extra cuddles either : )

Jacob hangin' with Ian's cousin Gyozo and his girlfriend Anna. Anna was pretty fond of Jacob. Gyozo might have some competition.

Jacob and Daniel fighting over strawberries as Agi tries desperately to keep the bowl out of Jacob's reach. Sorry kiddo...no strawberries yet : (

Finally the whole Hanzeli clan...well almost. Ian and his cousin Trevor were in Spokane visiting Gonzaga (Go Bulldogs!) and another cousin, Alex, was busy too. Only three missing...not bad.

A Visit from Belgium...Rome...San Diego...Tucson?

In early September, we had some very good friends, the Andersons, come into town from...well, just about everywhere. They used to live in Issaquah, but over the years they've all moved away : (. Justin got married last May to a wonderful Belgian woman named Delphine and the family were all in town to celebrate the wedding with their Seattle friends. It was also a lot of fun to introduce Jacob to the Andersons. We had such a great time meeting Delphine and her brothers and we are so truly happy for Justin.

The day after the party, we took everybody out on Lake Washington for some cruising and tubing. We were a little worried about how Jacob would do on the boat, especially because there were a lot of really big waves that day. Jacob decided to put all our fears to rest though by laughing as we bounced over the big waves and, shortly after we started, passing out on Mom's lap, life jacket and all. In fact, his biggest complaint that day was the bright sun (see the pictures) so we kept his hat completely over his eyes. Thanks Kate for the pictures. We miss you!

"Hey, who turned on the lights?"

"Still too bright out here!"

Eventually he burrowed himself into his life jacket. I think he looks like a little turtle trying to hide from the sun.

Playing Catch-up

Well, we warned you from the beginning that there were no promises as to how often we would update the blog, but we do really need to do better. Here's what's been happening the last month and a half...

Yum...

Jacob had his first official meltdown about a month ago. We were sitting down to eat dinner and he dicided that sitting on Mom's lap and trying to keep her from getting any food in her mouth just wasn't good enough. He wanted the food in his mouth. Long story short, we weren't able to finish dinner until after he had gone to bed. The next day he got his wish and quickly finished off a bit of rice cereal and then he let us eat dinner in relative peace. Since then, he's had a bit of baby food at dinner most nights. His favorites so far: squash, pears, green beans, and prunes. Thankfully, he hasn't really disliked anything except carrot and avacado. At least he'll eat some vegetables. That's more than we can say for Dad : )

Mmm...prunes

He had about a tablespoon of carrots before deciding to spit the rest out and clamp his mouth shut. To be perfectly honest, we don't mind not having the bright orange stains to get out of his clothes.

Just Playing
Apart from other things, Jacob loves to play in his exersaucer and on his playmat. Mom loves the exersaucer because she can finally do some dishes or ...dare we say it...cook dinner while Jacob stays entertained. It's great!

"Hi Mom!"

"I was busy chewing on my toy. Did you want something?"

For some reason we can't get this picture to stay rotated, but we had to post this picture. Jacob is a pretty smiley baby (yay!) and this is definitely one of our favorite pictures of his smile so far.

By the by...were having issues with the font size...guess you wont need glasses to read this one. :)

Sitting like a big boy...well, kind of

Jacob loves to try and sit up striaght whenever he's in his car seat or the bouncer. In fact, he's getting pretty good at it, so we decided it's time to finally get some pictures of him sitting on the couch like a big boy. Here are the results...
So far so good...

Uh oh...found the toes

We're thinking it's a lost cause when he begins to list to the side

We'll you can't say we didn't try. There's always next week : )
